Academic Earth has launched its beta site and now seeks feedback. The organization has the “goal of giving everyone on earth access to a world class education.” The site provides extremely convenient access to free, high quality, university-level video courses and lectures from a wide variety of academic disciplines.

Educause Review on Open Textbooks
January 16, 2009The January/February 2009 issue of Educause Review magazine features several articles about the evolving world of college textbooks. One article, titled “It Takes a Consortium to Support Open Textbooks,” describes the efforts of the Community College Consortium for Open Educational Resources to support use and development of open textbooks as a means to lower educational costs.
