Academic Earth Beta Debuts

Academic Earth has launched its beta site and now seeks feedback.   The organization has the “goal of giving everyone on earth access to a world class education.”   The site provides extremely convenient access to free, high quality, university-level video courses and lectures from a wide variety of academic disciplines.

Educause Review on Open Textbooks

The January/February 2009 issue of Educause Review magazine features several articles about the evolving world of college textbooks.  One article, titled “It Takes a Consortium to Support Open Textbooks,” describes the efforts of the Community College Consortium for Open Educational Resources to support use and development of open textbooks as a means to lower educational costs.

Looking for a free college textbook that you can read or download from the internet?  Links to 200 open and free textbooks are now listed at the Community College Consortium for Open Educational Resources blog.  Most of these textbooks have not yet been reviewed so let us know if you want to review a chapter or two.
